KWP News – November 2014

Dear All, it’s been a while, but boy do I have things to tell you.

But first, it saddens me that I have to let go of the apron strings a little. I ran KWP for a year and a half then bought the business July 14 and things, to be honest, have gone nuts! But in a good way.
As a result of the increased activity in the business and, for those that know me, my health issues, the business is a little too busy now for me to manage on my own. So, a few good friends have stepped in to help. We’re meeting in the new year to plan 2015 releases, conventions and local book launches to take into account seasonal trends. I’ve also taken on board a difficult decision. I will only edit two more titles for KWP before giving up the editing to manage KWP with the help of my friends and concentrate on my writing, especially as I have a novella deal providing I can deliver by 31st Jan 15.
So – that’s the sad bit out of the way.
Now for the exciting news.

Mycroft and the Necromancer

I am delighted to announce that Easter 2015, KnightWatch Press will be launching a brand new novel of supernatural mayhem featuring Sherlock Holme’s older brother Mycroft. Written by Michael R Brush, Mycroft and the Necromancer is a fun packed adventure of derring do with werewolves, fights opium dens and the obligatory necromancer of the title. We plan to launch at Eastercon 2015 in our own vendor room where lots of exciting stuff will be going on.

Michael R. Brush, born in 1970, grew up in the suburbs of Newcastle Upon Tyne. From there he travelled to Durham, back to Newcastle and then onwards to Belfast, where he lived for almost a decade off and on. Whilst trying to settle down he also abided in Luton, Cardiff and High Wycombe.

After graduating in ’94 he worked as an industrial temp but he could not resist the pull of words. After reading so many books he was compelled to write as well.

Currently, Michael lives in the West Midlands with his wife, Sarah and their rescue dog, Peggy.

Chapbook series

Firstly it will come as no surprise that our debut limited edition signed chapbook by Gary McMahon, ‘THE NIGHT JUST GOT DARKER’, met with rave reviews and has completely sold out. The ebook will be released shortly. However, it doesn’t end there as already announced we are bringing you more chapbooks by Sean T Page, Jasper Bark and Alison Littlewood, who has offered us a haunting tale called ‘The Offering’!

Now for 2015

I’m excited to announce two new writers for next year’s chapbook series. Best selling author Tim Waggoner joins the KWP fold with a brand new Nekropolis story.
Tim Waggoner has published more than thirty novels and three story collections of horror and dark fantasy. His most recent novels are The Way of All Flesh and Night Terrors. In addition to original novels, he’s written officially licensed tie-in fiction based on the TV shows Supernatural, Grimm, and the X-Files, and he co-wrote the Ghost Trackers series with Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson of the cable show Ghost Hunters. He teaches creative writing at Sinclair Community College and in Seton Hill University’s MFA in Writing Popular Fiction program. Visit him on the web at www.timwaggoner.com.

Joining James Everington and Christine Morgan for 2015 – 2016 is acclaimed and prolific horror/dark fantasy author Lily Childs with her story ‘In Search of Silver Boughs’. Lily will be well known to well known in the genre community and certainly knows how to put a new spin on a classic tale. Lily Childs is a writer of dark fiction, horror and chilling mysteries with dozens of stories published in paperback and ebook anthologies, and online in ezines.
Many of Lily’s short gothic horrors, ghost stories and nerve-janglers have been gathered together, along with several previously unpublished tales into Cabaret of Dread, a Horror Compendium Vol 1 – available now in paperback and eBook from Ganglion Press through Amazon. Lily will also have her first short story published by KWP in the anthology ‘Killer Bees from Outer Space’, being launched on 28th of March 2015 at the Briar Rose Birmingham from 7pm. Come and meet the authors.
